Women like porn too

Pornography is an multi billion per year industry in the United States, and new research is showing that millions of women are part of its growing audience.
Sexologist Marilyn Volker says the history of adult films dates back to the 1920s. Those films were called "smokers" and only men could watch them. "Part of this, in women's history, is just like the right to vote. Many women are saying 'I want to be able to watch'," she claims. And according to the below ratings and survey, Ms. Volker is absolutely right!
Nielsen/Net ratings indicate that about one-in-three visitors to adult entertainment websites are female, with nearly 13 million American women checking out porn online once a month. In addition, according to a survey on "risqué behavior," of over 1,000 men and women, conducted by The Sun:
  • 66% of women watch porn
  • 57% of women watch porn with their partner
  • 87% of women that view porn are married or in a relationship
  • 10% of women that view porn are single
  • 6% of women admitted to watching porn once a day
  • 26% of women admitted to watching porn once a month
  • Out of the 57 % of women who watch porn with a partner, a third regularly use it as part of foreplay, while 41% admit to having watched it several times with their man.
Theresa Flynt, vice president of marketing for Hustler video, says that women account for 56 percent of business at her company's video stores. "And the female audience is increasing," she adds. "Women are buying more porn." And according to female director Candida Royalle's, her erotic videos which are made expressly for women viewers, sell at the rate of approximately 10,000 copies a month.
"Women are changing the market," exclaims author and sex educator Violet Blue. She points to director Maria Beatty, Comstock Films, maker of high-quality, documentary-style, real-couples videos, aggressively markets to women with the simple tagline "Women love real sex." and the fact that pornos are becoming more realistic as proof that women are becoming more porn positive, seeing pornography as "one more pleasure to enhance the sexual experience.
Women are not only watching to become aroused or to learn new techniques and positions, but many enjoy the creative story line and videography. Women want to see more than just the same old stereotypical scenario. Guy see meets girl. Guy has animalistic sex with girl. Guy leaves girl. Women want see storylines that include communication, foreplay, intimacy and of course lots of mind-blowing sex!
Women directors such as Candida Royalle, Maria Beatty, Nica Noelle and have responded to this need by creating erotic videos specifically for women viewers.
Women aren't just transforming the style of porn, but they're also changing the way it's sold. Women, such as myself, have created a more woman focused environment where other woman can feel safe purchasing sexual items such as: erotic videos, lubricants, lotions, sex toys or other sensual items of pleasure without feeling embarrassed or harassed.
It's not at all surprising that more women are beginning to take an interest in porn. Porn provides an alternative way for women to satisfy their curiosity, learn more about sexuality, and explore sexual desires and sexual positions in the privacy of their home alone or with a partner. Women are taking charge of and exploring their sexual desires; it's empowering and liberating.
